Outdoor Facilities

As you turn onto the cottage lane, all thoughts of the outside world begin to fade away and you’re enveloped in the forest that suddenly surrounds you. Anticipation builds as you traverse the road and the lake appears through the trees.

You make the final turn on the cottage lane and there it is…nestled among the trees…Lulu’s Repose. As you survey the exterior of the cottage you’ll find:

Large, open parking just outside the cottage for 5 vehicles. There is parking for an additional 4 vehicles at the top of the road.

From the parking area follow the flagstone path along the gardens to the flagstone patio. In the centre of thepatio area is a fire pit surrounded by 8 large Muskoka chairs, perfect for long evenings around the campfire. To one side of the cottage there is a woodpile where you’ll find enough ready-split wood for your entire stay.

Below the flagstone patio and toward the lake there is a flat, grassy area that is perfect for sun-bathing, bocce ball, croquet, frisbee or just tossing a ball around.

There is a large, covered front porch at the entrance of the cottage and wide, granite stairs that lead from the flagstone path down to the lake. The slope of the lot is gradual and the stairs make the trip to the lake easy for most people.

Once you arrive at the shoreline you’ll find a 30’ wide sandy beach and a large dock for your boat. The beach is perfect for younger children and allows for wading or “walk-in” swimmers. Off the end of the dock the water deepens to approximately 7’ – 8’ and is perfect for those swimmers looking to dive in. At the end of the dock there is also a swim ladder which makes getting out of the lake easy. The dock is large and perfect in summer for just relaxing with a cold drink and a good book and there are 4 more large Muskoka chairs and 2 lounge chairs that make “dock time” the best time of any day. The constant breeze from off the lake makes even the hottest summer days comfortable and you’ll find you don’t want to leave the beach and dock for very long.

At the beach there is also 3 canoes, two kayaks, a stand-up Paddleboard, and a paddleboat that can be easily launched for touring the lake or just paddling around the harbour. There are also 8 life jackets available for use that are stored inside the cottage (see interior section).

As you make your way back up the granite steps to the cottage, you’ll find a set up wooden steps leading to the upper deck of the lakeside of the cottage. Here you’ll find a large (55’ X 16’) open deck with a dining table, sun umbrella, and 6 dining chairs. Also on the deck you’ll find 2 more lounge chairs for catching the morning and afternoon sun and a large 48” propane grill complete with rotisserie. The grill is connected to the propane supply for the cottage, so you’ll never need to worry about running out of fuel or schlepping propane tanks for re-fill. A wood pellet smoker awaits to test your culinary genius. Try your favourite brisket, chicken, ribs or fish. The sultry, smokey taste imbued after several hours of slow cooking won’t disappoint!
